ADB Scholarship 2025 at the University of Hawaii in the USA (Fully Funded)

It enables students from developing ADB member countries to pursue a master’s degree in authorized study subjects at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) in the United States. Additionally, scholars will participate in East-West Center (EWC) residential, academic, and leadership development activities.

Environmental Management and Natural Resources (MS): GRE (UHM only); TOEFL, DUOLINGO, or IELTS (EWC and UHM)
Ocean and Resource Engineering (MS): GRE (for UHM only); TOEFL, DUOLINGO, or IELTS (EWC and UHM)
Oceanography (MS): GRE (UHM only); TOEFL, DUOLINGO, or IELTS (EWC and UHM)
TOEFL, DUOLINGO, or IELTS (EWC and UHM) are options for Pacific Islands Studies (MA).
EWC and UHM Public Administration (MPA): TOEFL, DUOLINGO, or IELTS
Sociology (MA): GRE (UHM only); TOEFL, DUOLINGO, or IELTS (EWC and UHM)
Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences (MS): GRE (for UHM only); TOEFL, DUOLINGO, or IELTS (EWC and UHM)
TOEFL, DUOLINGO, or IELTS are acceptable for Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) (EWC and UHM).

Core Competencies and Requirements of ADB-JSP
Nationality and Age:
- You have to be a citizen of an ADB member nation and a current resident thereof.
- The age limit for applicants is 35 years or above.
Background in Education:
- At the time of application, you must have a four-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. It may contain:
- A master’s degree lasts one year and a bachelor’s degree lasts three years.
- with a two-year Master’s degree and a two-year Bachelor’s degree. (The program can check for equality.)
Experience at work:
- After obtaining your degree from a recognized university, you should have at least two years of full-time professional work experience
Proficiency in English Language:
- You must have completed an English language proficiency test within the last two years with at least the following scores:
- Paper-based TOEFL score: 550
- Computer-based TOEFL score: 213
- Internet-based TOEFL iBT: 79–80
- 95 in Duolingo-IELTS Score: 6.5

How can one apply for the ADB Scholarship at the University of Hawaii?
- The application process has two stages:
- Part 1: Application for Admission: A candidate must have proof of admission to the University of Hawaii at Manoa to submit a scholarship application.
- A separate application for admission to a master’s program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa must be submitted with any required supporting documents.
- The UHM Graduate Division website has information on how to apply for the majority of the master’s programs listed above that are eligible.
Apply for a 2nd Party ADB Scholarship: You can apply for the University of Hawaii’s ADB Scholarship as soon as you receive an offer of admission. Each year, ADB-JSP scholarship applications are monitored by the East-West Center.
