PhD Fellowship Scheme 2025-26 Hong Kong (400 fully funded scholarships)
The Hong Kong Government has fully funded the 2025-2026 Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme. It enables students from other countries to pursue a PhD in one of Hong Kong’s top eight universities. The Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong provides funding for (HKPFS). The intention is to attract talent from all over the world. For 2025-2026, 400 HKPFS fellowships will be awarded, up from the previous 300. There is no cost to apply. The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme is open to citizens of all nationalities regardless of gender, race, religion, or political affiliation. Additionally, previous employment history is not necessary. Additional information is provided below.

Fellowship Awards and Benefits
Fellowship Grant:
- A stipend of HK$337,200 (approximately US$43,230) per year
- Allowance for travel expenses related to conferences and research: HK$14,000 (approximately US$1,790)
Previous work experience is not necessary. - If it takes you more than three years to complete the fellowship, the university may offer further support.

Eligibility for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Program
- The candidate must be enrolled full-time in a new PhD program.
- Applicants can be of any nationality in the world.
- If you choose not to submit an IELTS report you must be able to provide documentation to prove that you have completed your previous education at an English medium institution.
- Candidates must show evidence of their English language ability if their prior education was not in the language.
- The candidate has to choose one of the eight universities from the list provided.

- Applications for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Program should be submitted by 1 December 2024. Also, the university has a single deadline.
Application Process: How to Apply
- Before submitting your applications for Ph.D. For admission to their preferred universities, candidates must first complete an initial application online through Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship Scheme Electronic System (HKPFSES) by 1 December 2024, 12:00:00 Hong Kong time, to obtain an HKPFS reference number.
- For their PhD, candidates can choose a maximum of two fields or programs from one or more universities.

Step 2: Complete the applications and send them to the recommended universities.
- Applicants should quote their HKPFS reference number when submitting their completed applications to the universities recommended for their chosen PhD. program after completing the initial application.
