The Gates Foundation will fully fund the Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2025
For students from outside the UK, the Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2025 offers fully funded master’s and Doctorate programs. In 2000, Bill and Melinda Gates donated the program to Cambridge University in the UK. Through the Gates Cambridge program, 80 students from around the world are selected each year to pursue a postgraduate degree in any field at the University of Cambridge in the UK. More than 2,000 scholarships have been awarded by The Trusty from more than 100 countries. Below are more details on the application procedure, conditions, benefits, and qualifying criteria.

Educational field
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is available in all academic fields, except:
- Any undergraduate degree, such as BA (Undergraduate) or BA Associate (Second BA)\
- Doctorate of Business (Bus D)
- Master of Business (MBA)
- Master of Finance (MFin)
- MAST Courses
- PGCE
- MBBChir Clinical Studies
- MD Doctor of Medicine Degree (6 years, part-time, domestic students only)
- Graduate Course in Medicine (A101)
- Part-time degrees other than Ph.D
- Non-Degree Courses
- The above courses are not included in the Gates Scholarship.

Gates Scholarship Benefits
The full cost of attending Cambridge is covered by the Gates Cambridge Scholarship for International Students. It contains:
- College charge.
- Maintenance allowance for one student: A maintenance allowance of up to four years (£21,000 for 12 months at the 2024–25 rate; the appropriate rate for courses shorter
- PhD students can apply for more than 12 months).
- An economy class plane ticket, plus the cost of the immigration health surcharge and visa.
The Trust additionally provides funds for:
- £500 to a maximum of £2,000 for attending courses and conferences.
- Dependent Children’s Allowance: maximum £11,604 for one child, maximum £16,548 for two or more
- Allowance for fieldwork
- Funds for motherhood and maternity
- Hardship Funding: For unexpected challenges faced by the student.

Ability
- Applications for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship are open to people living outside the UK.
- UK citizens are not eligible.
- Applying to the University of Cambridge for admission to any of the following courses:
- PhD program (full or part-time*)
- MLitt (Full Time)
- Full-time, one-year postgraduate program, with certain exceptions
- Candidates with high grades and academic qualifications.
- Complete the Gates Funding + Admissions application form.
Note: Existing Cambridge University students can also apply for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship if they wish to apply for a new postgraduate course. For example, you can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue a PhD if you are enrolled in an MPhil program.

How will the Gates Cambridge Scholarship 2025 be awarded?
Observe the application procedure:
- A Common Application Form: Through the University’s Graduate Application Portal, candidates submit their applications for admission and funding (Gates Cambridge and other funds).
- To be eligible for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship you must complete the stage at which you apply for admission to the course.
- Find the course you want to apply for in the course directory.
- Admission Section: If you are an overseas applicant, please apply by the course deadline specified in the University Course Directory. The deadline for most courses is 3 December 2024 or 7 January 2025.
- The funding section is where you can apply for alternative funding opportunities, such as the Gates Cambridge Scholarship.
- When evaluating applications, Gates Cambridge has access to the full application for financing and admission.
Conditions for Gates Cambridge Scholarship
- Apply for admission to the University of Cambridge online (see Course Directory) and submit your funding application through the Gates Scholarships section.
- Submit a Gates Cambridge statement (500 words or more)
- Research Proposal (for PhD candidates only)
- Gates, Cambridge (two scholarly references)
