Awards and recognition

Top Prize (1 winner): The Top Prize winner will receive two round-trip tickets to Tokyo for themselves and one sponsor in the summer of 2025. One stop of the trip will be the International Christian University (ICU). An alternative prize option for the winner is a cash prize of 100,000 yen.
Second prize: 50,000 yen gift card (one winner).
A copy of the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights in French, English and Japanese” translated by ICU students was awarded the third prize (10 winners).

A special prize winner—the equivalent of third prize—was awarded to individuals who had not studied English for more than a year.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates had to live outside of Japan at that time.
Date of birth should be between 10 October 2005 to 9 October 2010.
Youth living outside of Japan, aged 14 to 18.
Students currently enrolled in college or university are not eligible to apply.
Choose a topic for your essay from the list below.
Write an essay in English of 650 words or less.
